Two fatalities announced after accident near Cameron

A 29-year-old and 9-year-old are dead after an accident outside of Cameron.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as 59-year-old Kenneth Eldridge of Petaluma, California was travelling westbound on US 36 in Dekalb County when a vehicle driven by 29-year-old Desari Lathrop of Kansas City struck the towed unit of Eldrige's semi truck. Eldrige continued west and came to a controlled stop on the north shoulder of US 36 facing east. Lathrop's vehicle overturned and Lathrop was partially ejected. Lathrop's vehicle came to a rest on its top facing southwest in the passing lane of US 36.

Lathrop was pronounced dead at the scene along with 9-year-old Savion Lathrop Spearman of Kansas City.

The crash was investigated by Cameron Police Department and Cameron Fire Department.
